Empathy Contest
Consider an Animal's Tools
“Consider the ______’s use of a(n) ______.”
Enter any animal (excepting humans) in the first space above, any tool in the second, and you have the first sentence of an entry into The Pedestrian’s second quarterly essay contest.
Each entry must begin with this sentence. Apart from this one rule there are no restrictions as to where the essay meanders from here.
The winning essay will be published in the second issue of The Pedestrian (On Tools) and will receive a $500 prize.

Have a different first sentence in mind? Can't think of an animal that uses an iPod or a grandfather clock? No problem. The Pedestrian welcomes the submission of other essays that involve thoughts on tools through its general submission process.
It is highly recommended that contestants navigate the menu at left to see what The Pedestrian is all about.
